Integrated Domestic and Family Violence (IFDV) – Supporting Families, Strengthening Safety

What is IFDV?

Our Integrated Domestic and Family Violence Service is a free support program for families, adults and children, who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, family violence. It’s part of the Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) program funded by the NSW Government.

The program helps families get support early—before things get worse. It’s about keeping families safe, strong, and connected.

Who is it for?

  • Adults (particularly women) experienced or are at risk of family violence
  • Their children and young people - whether they remain in the family home or have left.
  • Aboriginal families and communities, with culturally safe and trauma-informed care
  • The person using violence - to support reflection on their behaviours and work toward positive change.

What support is available?

We offer:

  • Holistic case-management — tailored safety and support planning, risk and needs assessment, working with families over time.
  • Advocacy and hands-on support - helping to navigate services, working through trauma, and supporting decisions that prioritise safety and wellbeing.
  • Referrals and coordination - connecting with housing, health, legal, counselling, men’s behaviour-change programs, and other community services.
  • Support for children and young people - recognising the impacts of DFV on children, and aiming for safe, culturally appropriate care.

You can get support for as long as you need it.

Why is this program important?

Domestic and family violence is complex, often affecting many areas of life including safety, relationships, wellbeing, housing, and children’s security. A flexible, family-focused and culturally appropriate response can make a real difference. The IDFVS Program is designed to:

  • Increase safety and reduce risk for victim-survivors.
  • Support healing for individuals, children and families.
  • Provide a culturally-grounded service; led by and for our community which understands the unique context, strengths and needs of Aboriginal families.

Delivered locally in Broken Hill and Central Darling Shire

Mirrimpilyi Muurpa-nara Aboriginal Corporation is proud to deliver the IDFVS program across Broken Hill and Central Darling Shire LGAs. We are an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, which means we understand the local community and culture.
